Children flourish in an educational environment that is designed to stimulate a love for learning. Children's House of Oceanside is based on this simple principle:
We educate children using the philosophy developed by Maria Montessori, in a carefully prepared environment, to foster individuality, creativity, and personal growth in each child.
Our Montessori curriculum emphasizes self paced academic activities designed to stimulate a child's mind while cultivating an inner discipline. Children immersed in this type of hands-on, self-paced environment develop a high level of self esteem, and self-control. We view every activity in the areas of math, language, practical life, sensorial, science, geography, music/arts and the outdoors, as an opportunity to help each child build confidence, self-discipline and a strong knowledge base.
At Children's House of Oceanside, we recognize that curious minds are those with an insatiable hunger for knowledge. We also know that every child is motivated by a natural curiosity. It is our primary goal to develop this inherent resource within every child we serve.
At Children’s House of Oceanside the “whole child” is nurtured. We promote peace, courtesy, and respect for ourselves, those around us, and planet earth.
Our ground rules in the classroom leave very little need for discipline. When a child needs additional guidance our staff uses positive words to promote positive behavior.
Since we know that young children learn by doing, our beautiful classrooms, where everything is just their size, are filled with inviting, hands-on materials. The concrete educational tools allow children to explore the world through their senses, through touch and motion, and by observing and engaging with others. CHOO teachers guide students through the curriculum as they become ready for each new challenge, introducing lessons and then letting them practice what they have learned. As children grow, the classroom materials grow with them in the sense that older children use the materials to explore curriculum in new and deeper ways.
This quote by Maria Montessori says it all: "The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first period from birth to age six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed." She also asserted that "The education of early childhood should be based entirely upon this principle: assist the natural development of the child."
Guided by Dr. Montessori’s philosophy, the staff at Children’s House of Oceanside, strives to provide the perfect, peaceful, balanced environment; one that will promote a social and academic foundation supporting each child throughout life.
